Paws for Literacy® Programme (Pictures from our 12th event at the Elora Library Branch, December 10, 2011) On December 10, the "Paws for Literacy" volunteers (dogs AND humans) led by Spirit Ridge's own "Jesse" girl (6 years old) along with her junior handler (Madison Busbe, age 10) took the show on the road to the Elora Branch of the Wellington County Library system. The library staff hosted us in the beautiful Elora Library branch on a gloriously sunny and beautiful day - great harbingers for what turned out to be yet another magical reading day with children, wonderful Literacy Assistance Dogs, proud parents and, of course, lots of reading! We had 16 children that read to our four Literacy Assistance Dogs: "Oliver" (Havanese Dog), "Charlie" (Shitzhu), "Ripley" (Chesapeake Bay Retriever) and "Jesse" (Belgian Malinois). We hope you enjoy the picture below from this wonderful event ..... Click here to view a short video clip of the event! We are grateful and indebted to the Elora Branch library staff - and, in particular, Ms Bonnie Moebus (supervisor), without whose help this event would not have been possible!
